During my time through college (In the UK this is the equivalent of junior and senior year) I was figuring out the best path to take through life. The course I was currently taking in college was a business course. This seemed the most obvious choice as I planned to build a business and be successful.
Unknown to me, the course only taught a load of corporate jargon that was irrelevant at the time. The courses plan is to have you get a job and build your way up to management within a business. This was not what I wanted to do, I wanted to build a business.
After exploring potential careers online. It became clear that to have time, financial, and location freedom then online marketing was the way forward. Within no time of doing basic research, adverts started appearing on youtube for various digital/social media marketing courses. (It's so interesting looking back now knowing how I was targeted and how I'm targeting people the same way)
I went through multiple “Live Training” sessions until finding a social media marketing course that suited me. This course taught me everything needed to successfully run profitable affiliate ads on Facebook.
Within 4 weeks I'd made my first sale and within a year had multiple successes including many 1K+ days. Unfortunately, it became unsustainable due to the Facebook ad account shutdowns making it unable for me to scale. A lot more time was being spent finessing their system than fine-tuning adverts. It was clear to shut off spending for the time being as I didn’t have products of my own and I knew nothing about having an agency/running ads for clients.
Previously, before getting into affiliate marketing on Facebook, I looked into the AdSkills course by Jason Brooke and made sure to get on the mailing list, but it was too advanced for that starting step into the world of digital marketing.
Moving forwards a year, this was no longer the case. I purchased the AdSkills agency program and gradually made my way through all the courses, making ongoing structured notes. I then took the certification test and passed giving me access to a wide range of clients.
This brings me to now where I'm looking to build strong relationships and make a name for myself in the digital marketing industry.
